MEER FOUNDATION

We Serve Humanity....

Meer Foundation is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to stand by people in their times of need and to help them reach the point where they can stand by themselves. Our focus is on creating empowered communities that can prove to be self-sufficient and will not require any external assistance.

There are many people out there today who are struggling with survival itself. Either suffering from political injustice or discrimination or natural calamities there are groups of people that have nowhere to go to, no one to turn to. Meer foundation has an objective to help these people. To stay besides them when no one else can. To help them make a stand on their own. This is the work of Meer Foundation.

All of our current projects are centered in Bangladesh. We have accomplished quite a lot in the area. The humanitarian crisis of the Rohingya people in Myanmar was the worst at the time. Over 1.3 million people were displaced and with nowhere to go to they settled in refugee camps located in Cox Bazaar Bangladesh. Dealing with this historical disaster was our primary focus for awhile as we executed and continue to maintain many projects in the refugee camps.

We have also begun work in empowering the underprivileged in Bangladesh. We are working on creating financial stability and self-dependency for the people suffering from poverty.

We also focus on sharing happiness and comfort with the impoverished. In addition to increases in quality of life we conduct projects during festivities like the two Eids to make sure the poor can also partake in some of the happiness we all experience.

Basmah USA, (Bangladesh American Society of Muslim Aid for Humanity) is the North American branch of the Meer foundation which conducts most of the projects and programs under our administration.

The Meer Foundation USBD Inc. DBA: Bangladesh American Society of Muslim Aid for Humanity(BASMAH) works with Basmah Foundation, located in Bangladesh.

Our Projects

The Rohingya people of Burma (Myanmar) are considered one of the most persecuted groups of people in the world. Nearly one million of them have fled to Bangladesh as refugees because of the ethnic cleansing occurring in their country. Meer Foundation USBD is dedicated to aiding these refugees.

Natural disasters and flooding often strike Bangladesh, and because these regions aren’t wealthy, there is no immediate access to fresh water post-disaster. Contaminated water facilitates the spread of disease, Meer foundation USBD works to provide relief in the aftermath of natural disasters.

Our Sewing Machine project is a very unique and special project. The goal of this project is to provide sewing machines to the women suffering from extreme poverty in Bangladesh.

Many people suffering from poverty in Bangladesh are forced to walk long distances everyday just to get a sip of clean water. We believe that water is a basic human right that every human should easily have access to.

The holy month of Ramadan is a very special and precious month to us Muslims. In the hot climate of Bangladesh, fasting all day can really drain a person. We make sure to provide a fresh Iftar dinner for as many people as we can so that they can end their fast properly and have a meal they deserve.

During Eid Ul-Adha it is very important for us Muslims to give a sacrifice (Qurbani). It is obligatory for Muslims who give a sacrifice to make sure that not only his family is happy and eating, but his poor Muslim brothers and sisters are too.
